Temporality is...
having a relationship with time
What relationships can you think of between food and time?
When does food grow and develop?
Food grows and develops seasonally.
Marking the seasons is a form of timekeeping.
Does food last forever?
Usually, no! Food is generally not eternal–it usually does not last forever.
Food generally rots over time. Some might say food is ephemeral, or lasts for a short amount of time.
Where do we get our food recipes from?
Sometimes we create our own recipes, but often we get our recipes from generations before us.
Our mom, grandparent, or great uncle may pass down a special cookie or dumpling recipe. These recipes travel through time as they are made again and again.
